Who is Little Simz? Brit Awards 2022 beckons for hotly tipped rapper

Little Simz looks set for a night to remember on Tuesday when she bids for glory at this year's Brit Awards and also steps onto the stage to perform at this year's ceremony.

Hosted by Mo Gilligan, the Brit Awards 2022 look like being a real return to form for the biggest night in British music, after a delayed and more scaled back bash last year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

This year's Brits will feature performances from the likes of Adele, Ed Sheeran and Sam Fender and someone else in the spotlight at London's O2 Arena is Little Simz.

Real name Simbiatu Abisola Abiola Ajikawo, Little Simz is a UK rapper who was born in London in 1994.

After releasing a string of EPs and mix tapes, she brought out debut album A Curious Tale of Trials + Persons on her own label in 2015.

It charted in the top 20 of the UK R&B album charts and Little Simz followed it up with Stillness in Wonderland a year later and then Grey Area in 2019, which as well as making the shortlist for the Mercury Music Prize, won Beat Album at both the Ivor Novello and NME Awards.

Fourth album Sometimes I Might Be Introvert was lapped up by critics on its release last year and is on the shortlist for Album of the Year at this year's Brits.

Little Simz is also up for Artist of the Year, New Artist of the Year and Hip Hop, Grime and Rap artist.
