Who is Lianne Sanderson on Soccer Aid 2020?

Lianne Sanderson will make her Soccer Aid debut when it returns on Sunday.

The big charity football match will be broadcast live on ITV from Old Trafford after it was pushed back from June due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Lianne will join the World XI side alongside the likes of Patrice Evra as they take on the England side in a bid to win the Soccer Aid 2020 title.

The 32-year-old is a former professional footballer who had 50 caps for the England national team during her career.

Lianne, whose father played for Crystal Palace, says she begged her father to let her play on a team starting at the age of five years old and at nine she signed for Arsenal.

She had a spell at Chelsea before numerous stints in the US.

Lianne finished her career at Juventus in 2019 after one season with the Serie A club.

So Soccer Aid shouldn't be too much like hard work.

This year's Soccer Aid takes place at Manchester United's Old Trafford after spending last year at Chelsea FC's Stamford Bridge.

The match will be broadcast live on ITV and sadly no fans will be allowed at the stadium.

The charity match raises money for Unicef, which helps to support the organisations vital work protecting children in the UK and globally.

This year the charity will also recognised the impact coronavirus is having around the world.

As a result, this year, every £1 donated is automatically trebled thanks to the UK Government and Gavi, The Vaccine Alliance.
