Belfast boxer Michael Conlan will fight Leigh Wood at Nottingham's Motorpoint Arena on March 12.
33-year-old Leigh Wood from England, has held he WBA Featherweight title since July 2021.
He defeated Xu Can in Brentwood, Essex in July last year as part of Matchroom's Fight Camp.
Despite being a massive underdog, Wood outboxed the champion during numerous periods of the fight, and prevailed with an upset victory via a twelfth-round knockout.
In his time fighting at regional level he held the British featherweight title from February to August 2021 and the Commonwealth featherweight title in 2019.
Wood will have home advantage when he defends his WBA 'Regular' World featherweight title against Conlan, although the Belfast challenger will have plenty of travelling support for the much-anticipated clash.
30-year-old Conlan is unbeaten in 16 professional fights and has won eight times via KO.
When Conlan Boxing confirmed the fight on January 7 they said: "It's time to bring Belfast to Nottingham."
Conlan's last fight was a WBA Interim World title win over TJ Doheny at Falls Park back in August.
Wood believes the boxers' two styles make for a great fight.
"I will have a big advantage size wise and power wise, but I can't overlook him. His skill set, World amateur gold, Olympian, medal at the Olympics. He is very good at hitting and not getting hit which is the name of the game," Wood told iFLTV.
"But sometimes he has a bit of an ego and likes to get shots back straight away. He does make a lot of mistakes which we are analysing in great detail.
"But it makes for a great fight. These two styles will make a great fight, and hopefully it is in my home city in Nottingham."
