Who is leading the 2024 Tour de France after stage 20?

Tadej Pogacar.

Tadej Pogačar's (UAE Team Emirates) solidified his five-minute lead in the Tour de France overall standings by winning the final road stage on stage 20, a climb-packed day to the Col de la Couillole.

After following an attack from Jonas Vingegaard (Visma-Lease a Bike) in the final 3km of the stage, the yellow jersey easily outsprinted the Dane at the finish, taking his fifth stage victory of the race and all but securing his third Tour title.

Vingegaard took a few more seconds on third-placed Remco Evenepoel (Soudal Quick-Step), and the pair are now separated by almost three minutes as they look to confirm their podium placings in Sunday's final time trial.

After taking the polka dot jersey on stage 19, Richard Carapaz (EF Education-EasyPost) put in a determined ride in the breakaway to take enough points to mathematically secure the win in that classification, provided he finishes the race in Nice. He also took third on the penultimate stage.

The only changes on GC in terms of positions were two swaps in the top 10: Adam Yates (UAE Team Emirates) took Carlos Rodríguez's (Ineos Grenadiers) sixth place by a second, whilst Matteo Jorgenson (Visma-Lease a Bike) jumped ahead of Derek Gee (Israel-Premier Tech) into eighth.

There were almost no changes in any of the other competitions. Biniam Girmay (Intermarché-Wanty) continues to hold the green jersey for the points competition, which he looks set to secure, provided he finishes the race in Nice.

In the young riders' competition, Remco Evenepoel (Soudal Quick-Step), third-placed overall, remains in the lead, now more than 13 minutes ahead of Rodríguez.

UAE Team Emirates continue to lead the teams classification thanks to having three riders in the top 10: Pogačar, João Almeida and Adam Yates.
