Who is Kenneth Egan's wife? Everything you need to know about the Irish boxing legend

Irish Olympic hero Kenneth Egan is the spotlight of a new TG4 documentary tonight as he opens up on his battle with alcoholism.

The boxing legend stars in the latest episode of Finné, which will explore the realities of his 2008 Olympic silver medal success.

In the revealing documentary, Egan will look back on his recovery from alcoholism as he celebrates over ten years of sobriety.

Here's everything you need to know about Kenny Egan.

Who is Egan's wife?

Egan married his long-term girlfriend Karen O'Sullivan in January 2017.

The pair were together back in 2008 as Egan became a household name, but the couple split as the pressures of the spotlight put a strain on their relationship.

However, they got back together some time ago and now have a five-year-old daughter, Kate.

What did he achieve during his career?

Egan is best known for winning a silver medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

A highly successful boxer, Egan won ten successive national titles across two weight classes, with the pinnacle of his career being the Olympic silver win at 81kg.

Egan retired from boxing in 2013 and has been elected to South Dublin County Council as a councillor in local elections in both 2014 and 2019.

What the documentary about?

The powerful documentary will highlight Egan's battle with alcoholism upon his return from Beijing.

Egan became a near-overnight household name as he struggled to deal with the pressures and challenges that come with being a national hero.

The Clondalkin man found himself spiralling out of control with binge drinking almost taking over his day-to-day life.

But he began attending AA meetings and is now over ten years sober as he opens up in the documentary.

Finné airs at 9.30 pm on TG4 tonight.
