Who is Kamaldeen Sulemana? The winger compared to Sadio Mane who is headed to Southampton instead of Everton

Young winger Kamaldeen Sulemana had been linked to replace Anthony Gordon at Goodison Park but is now believed to be headed to Southampton.

Everton were believed to have had a £25m bid accepted for the promising winger before a deal was agreed with the Saints.

And reports from France now suggest that he is heading to the Premier League's bottom club.

Sean Dyche will be keen to bolster his attacking options as Everton remain linked with forward Paul Onauchu, despite being denied the prospect of signing long-term target Sulemana.

Everton had seemingly closed in on Sulemana amid rumoured interest from a number of Premier League clubs, including Leeds United throughout the window.

Sulemana has earned widespread plaudits and has drawn comparisons to former Liverpool winger Sadio Mane.

Similar to Mane, the right-footed winger is known for his quick dribbling and is a tricky customer to defend against when cutting inside off the left-wing.

Sulemana has scored one goal this season, playing primarily on the left of a front three for the French side.

The 20-year-old Ghanaian currently plies his trade for French side Stade Rennais and has made 14 league appearances this season, most of which have come off the bench.

The winger scored four goals in a breakout campaign last season before suffering a back injury in February that ruled him out for the rest of the campaign.

After impressing in his first European spell with Danish side FC Nordsjaelland, Sulemana signed for Stade Rennais in July 2021.

Sulemana made his debut for Ghana at the age of 18 and has earned 15 caps thus far without finding the net.

The winger originally came through the ranks at the Ghanian Right to Dream Academy, before moving to Nordsjaelland in February 2020.

The transfer deadline closes for all Premier League clubs at 23:00 tonight.
