Expect the Jeremy Vine programme to look a little different this week, as Jeremy will be joined by one very special guest – his wife, Rachel Schofield.
The 44-year-old, who has extensive experience in television in her own right, will be joining Jeremy, 55, as his regular co-host Storm Huntley enjoys a break away from the studio.
It’s the first time the pair have ever worked together on screen, with Jeremy admitting he’s “terrified”.
Here’s everything you need to know about Rachel…
Who is Rachel Schofield?
Rachel is a journalist and news presenter.
After graduating from Durham University with a First Class Degree in Modern Languages in 1998, she joined Purple FM.
She then started her career at the BBC in 1999, starting on BBC Radio Newcastle before moving on to present Look North.
She has also presented on BBC Radio 4 and the BBC News, before she resigned in 2012, and now works on a freelance basis.
She married Jeremy in 2002, after they met covering the 2001 general election. The pair have two children together.
How long will Rachel Schofield be presenting on Jeremy Vine?
The double-act won’t be forever, with Rachel joining Jeremy just for one week from Monday, September 7, while Storm is off.
Speaking about the announcement, Rachel said: “‘I think between us Jeremy and I have over 50 years of broadcasting experience, but amazingly we’ve never ventured into a studio together before, so stepping into the brilliant Storm’s shoes for a week is a unique opportunity.
“I just think I might need it in the contract that he makes the tea when the alarm goes off.”
Jeremy added: “I’m slightly terrified. Storm’s away, and someone thought of asking Rachel in. She is of course streets ahead of me in every dimension, so I know I’ll be in good hands. Secretly I can’t wait!”
Jeremy Vine airs weekdays from 9.15am on Channel 5
