Wimbledon is back, but tennis fans might be surprised to see a new face presenting the Championships coverage on BBC.

Isa Guha, former cricketer and sports broadcaster, will be hosting the BBC’s Wimbledon coverage in the morning throughout the tournament.

Sue Barker, former tennis player and broadcaster, who is well-known for hosting Wimbledon coverage, will be retiring from broadcasting following this year’s tournament.

In the meantime, she will be sharing her broadcasting duties with Isa Guha. But who is the presenter we can expect to see on our screens for the next fortnight?

Who is Isa Guha?

Isa Guha, 37, is a former cricketer and a television and radio cricket broadcaster from High Wycombe.

She made her international cricket debut in 2002 at just 17-years-old, and became the first South Asian woman to represent England in any sport, playing as a right-arm fast-medium bowler and right-handed batter.

During her decade-long sports career, the England cricket team won two World Cups and an Ashes. In 2009, Isa was named the ICC No 1 ranked bowler in the world.

She was named the BBC Asian Sports Personality of the Year in 2002, and in 2010, she was named Sony Asian Sports Personality of the Year.

When she retired from cricket in 2012, Isa was the second highest wicket taker in the all-time England Women’s ODI List and sixth in the world.

Isa then went on to become a sports broadcaster, and has commentated for BBC and Sky Sports, as well as international TV stations.

As well as TV broadcasting, the former cricketer has also presented on the radio and has contributed to print publications including the Telegraph, the Daily Mail, and the Guardian.

She became the BBC’s lead presenter and commentator for cricket coverage in 2020, and will share the hosting duties at Wimbledon with Sue Barker this year.

On Twitter, she shared a photo from the first day of the tournament and said “Wimbledon debut - what an honour.”
