Who is Ireland Eurovision act Wild Youth, song title and when they last qualified for final

Ireland's Eurovision Song Contest act Wild Youth will perform tonight in a bid to secure a place in the grand final.

The Dublin band will be one of 15 acts performing in the semi-final, with only the top 10 making it to the final. Consisting of four friends, the group is known for blending rock with catchy pop harmonies, leading to a series of number-one hits.

Fans of the band will be able to catch them tonight after Portugal and before Croatia, making them sixth in the running order.

Wild Youth frontman Conor O'Donohoe has promised fans of a 'big and bold' performance to help them grab a place in the finals. However, they will be facing tough competition against former winner Loreen representing Sweden as well as one of this year's favourites, Kaarija representing Finland in the same round.

For those wanting to cheer on Ireland tonight, we've broken down everything you need to know about Ireland's Eurovision 2023 act...

Who are Wild Youth?

Wild Youth formed in 2018 and were selected to represent Ireland during a contest on broadcaster RTE's The Late Late show. The contest saw them beat other contestants, including former Sex Pistols frontman John Lydon and his band Public Image Ltd.

What song will Wild Youth perform?

Wild Youth will be performing with their tune 'We Are One' which previously peaked at 93 on the Irish Singles Chart. By the end of the RTE competition, the song earned a total of 34 out of a maximum of 36 points, earning them the chance to represent their country in the international song competition.

When did Ireland last qualify for the Eurovision finals?

Ireland has participated in Eurovision more than 50 times and has an impressive record of seven wins. However, they failed to qualify for the final ever since Ryan O'Shaughnessy entered in 2018 with his song 'Together'.

The Eurovision semi-finals 1 will air tonight at 8pm on BBC One.
