Top Boy took the streaming world by storm when it made its triumphant return in 2019 – six years after its first incarnation was cancelled by Channel 4. Indeed, at one point, the gritty drama was the number one most-watched show on Netflix in the UK.
Now, the show is into its fourth season, which has dropped on Netflix today (March 18, 2022). Vice report that one of the show's stars (and accomplished rapper) Ashley Walters has said of the streaming service, "Top Boy is a raw, real representation of street culture."
"It explores how these characters came to make the choices they make, and gives the audience a behind-the-scenes look as to what is happening on our streets today. It needs to be talked about and the show doesn't shy away from giving us the platform to tell our story."
