Grimes has called on Elon Musk to respond to one of their children’s “medical crisis”, and has accused her former partner of not responding.
The singer has three children with the tech billionaire and took to X, which Mr Musk owns, to publicly call him out for “ignoring the situation”.
Grimes, whose real name is Claire Boucher, has since deleted her posts after calling on her ex to “fucking respond”.
“Plz respond about our child’s medical crisis,” the Canadian singer wrote.
“I am sorry to do this publicly but it is no longer acceptable to ignore this situation. This requires immediate attention.
“I’m not giving any details but he won’t respond to texts call or emails and has skipped every meeting and our child will suffer lifelong impairment if he doesn’t respond asap, so I need him to fucking respond and if I have to apply public pressure then I guess that’s where we are at.”
She added: “If you don’t want to talk to me can you please designate or hire someone who can so that we can move forward on solving this. This is urgent, Elon.”
Grimes, 36, did not share details of which child had the illness. Their eldest child, X Æ A-Xii, was recently seen on the shoulders of his dad in the Oval Office – where he may or may not have told president Donald Trump to “shush your mouth”.
Mr Musk has not publicly responded to Grimes tweeting about the health of their child.
He has, in the past week, become embroiled in another saga around his parentage – with right-wing influencer Ashley St Clair claiming she had given birth to his 13th child.
While he has not acknowledged this, it is well known that Mr Musk has had 12 children with three women – including Grimes.
Who is Grimes?
Born in Vancouver, Claire Boucher – as Grimes – released electronic pop music in the early 2010s and her debut album, Geidi Primes, was based on the Dune series.
With the release of her third album, Visions, in 2012, she became established in the music world for her synth and art pop. She came to wider recognition to British audiences that year with a performance of breakthrough single Genesis on Later with Jools Holland.
Her career went from strength to strength over the next few years, with Art Angels, her follow-up album, also being well received – especially for its lead single, Flesh Without Blood. Next effort Miss Anthropocene was released in 2020 but is so far her only album of this decade.
An interesting fact is that Grimes takes her name from listing “grime” three times as her favourite genre on MySpace, liking the name but not realising at the time that it relates to UK rap music! As well as an accomplished musician and vocalist, she is also a talented artist and designs all her album artwork.
Grimes and Elon Musk
The pair started dating in 2018, having messaged over Twitter (before Mr Musk owned it), when he realised she had already made a joke that he had cracked. This led him to discover the Flesh Without Blood music video and message her.
After Mr Musk broke up with his former girlfriend, Amber Heard, he started being spotted with Grimes at various events while she defended his leadership of Tesla on the site.
The two unfollowed each other on social media during this time but were soon apparently back on again and were seen together at Tesla launch events and a Kardashian party.
X Æ A-Xii was born in May 2020. The following year, they separated but seemingly found time to have a second child via a surrogate somewhere during this period.
"I would probably refer to him as my boyfriend, but we're very fluid," Grimes said of Mr Musk to Vanity Fair magazine. "We live in separate houses. We're best friends. We see each other all the time."
In 2021, Grimes released Player of Games – a song about her relationship with him.
By September 2023, they’d had a third child, according to Business Insider, although they had apparently split for good back in 2022, other reports have stated.
The names of their second and third children are not known.
Their relationship appears to have cracked in recent months, with Grimes criticising Mr Musk, a now born-again Trump evangelist, for making a Nazi-esque salute at the inauguration. She also called him out for taking X Æ A-Xii to the Oval Office and has now publicly called for him to better communicate and support one of their children.
