England are preparing to take on Sweden in the semi-final of Euro 2022 at Bramall Lane on Tuesday as they bid to get one step closer to lifting silverware.
The Lionesses will be desperate to make the final and continue their run in the tournament, looking to win their first ever international competition. England completed their quarter-final comeback against Spain at the Amex Stadium in Brighton, having been 1-0 down until the 84th minute.
After taking the game to extra time it was Georgia Stanway who rifled the ball into the top corner to send the women's team through to the semi-final. Here we take a look at Georgia's life, from her new chapter in Germany to rugby player boyfriend.
Georgia Stanway's football hero
The 23-year-old was born in Cumbria, and being from the North-East meant she grew up a Newcastle fan. In the past Georgia has spoke openly about her hero, Alan Shearer and why he means so much to her.
During an England Q&A about superstitions, the Lionesses star revealed that she carries around an Alan Shearer Match Attax card from 2006.
Georgia said: “As a kid, I used to collect them and my Nana’s favourite player was Alan Shearer so whenever I got him, I would always give it to my Nana."
What club does Georgia Stanway play for?
Georgia Stanway has just signed for German club Bayern Munich on a two-year deal, leaving Manchester City as the club's record goalscorer having joined as a youth player.
Georgia tweeted an emotional statement when she left the club saying: "I joined Manchester City with the dream of becoming a professional footballer...I have made memories and friends for a lifetime, I'll be back as a fan if not a player."
Being just 23-years-old Stanway still has a long career ahead of her, and could easily return to the blue side of Manchester in the future.
Who is Georgia Stanway's boyfriend?
Georgia's move to Europe follows in the footsteps of her rugby player boyfriend Olly Ashall-Bott, who has ventured to France to play for Rugby Super League team Toulouse Olympique.
Both sporting stars have now left their northern routes in search of new experiences in France and Germany.
The dynamite duo met back in 2018 when Ashall-Bott slid into Stanway's dm's.
The pair regularly go fishing together.
"Literally the second time of going, Georgia caught the biggest fish ever - she's so competitive in everything she does," Ashall-Bott told The Times.
In an interview with the Mirror, on moving to France, Ashall-Bolt said: "Moving to Toulouse was the hardest and best decision of my life. It's been great for my career but it means I can't support Georgia like I usually do."
