Love Island is back, and a fresh cast of new islanders are in the villa hoping to find love.
The sexy singletons are spending the summer in a luxury Majorcan villa–while reality TV fans tune in every night to find out who will hit it off and who will simply be pied off.
The Love Island contestants coupled up and started getting to know each other. But with heads already turned, how long will the couples last?
One of the original islanders is Gemma Owen–find out everything we know about her so far…
Who is Gemma Owen?
Gemma Owen is a 19-year-old international dressage rider and business owner from Chester.
Her father is footballer Michael Owen, who told ITV News: “I have no doubts that she will make us all proud.
“It’s probably a father’s worst nightmare, but whatever she wants to do you’ve got to be supportive.”
Gemma is heading into the villa “open to finding love” but also “wanting to have a really fun summer.” She says: “I was seeing someone and then that didn’t work out so I thought, ‘Why not?’”
She describes herself as “fun, flirty and fiery,” and says she’s “a good person to talk to,” and “very honest.”
The 19-year-old thinks she’d be a catch, saying: “I do think I’m a good girlfriend. I would say that once I’m in something, I’m loyal and all for that person. I don’t think my head would get turned easily.”
Her friends would describe her as “very honest and a bit stubborn, straight up and a bit fiery.” Gemma says: “I can be quite protective. When you get to know me, I’m quite fun but it just takes a while for that guard to come down.
“They would say that I can take the mick out of myself quite easily!”
Dressage rider Gemma would say she’s competitive and says: “Sport has always been a big thing for me and my family. My dad was a professional football player.
I’ve competed for Great Britain in dressage since I was 11-years-old. I’ve travelled all across Europe competing in big arenas in big competitions. I would say I’m very competitive.”
This competitiveness translates into her dating life too, as Gemma says: “I will always go for what I want. But at the same time, I’m not going to mess up something for someone who is in a proper relationship or get in the way of a couple if they have a genuine connection.
However, she says: “I wouldn’t do anything to another girl that I wouldn’t be happy with them doing to me.”
Although she considers herself “a relationship type of person,” Gemma might not let things get too serious on Love island, as she says: “I don’t think I fall in love quickly, I think I’m quite slow. I think it takes a while for me to let my guard down.”
