Emmerdale is not short of drama at the minute, and young actress Sarah Sugden finds herself at the epicentre of a nail-biting plot in the ITV soap.
18-year-old Katie Hill plays the character of Sarah Sugden who is currently involved in a dramatic drug related story-line.
Katie's character recently got back in touch with drug dealer Danny and then hid a bag of pills in Ethan’s jacket in tense scenes that had viewers at the edge of their seats.
But, what's next for the troublesome teen and who are her on-screen parents in the Yorkshire Dales soap.
Who is Sarah Sugden’s mum and dad in Emmerdale?
Sarah’s mum is newly returned Debbie Dingle, played by Charley Webb, and her dad is Andy Sugden, played by Kelvin Fletcher.
Strictly winner Kelvin departed the show in 2016 in a bid to focus on other hobbies, including his racing driver passion.
However, he hasn’t technically said he won’t return, and told Soaplife: “Andy wasn't killed off, so technically I could return.
"But I genuinely haven't given it much thought. The two years since I left have flown by and, in many respects, my leaving still feels very fresh."
Andy’s departure saw him on the run from police after being framed by ex Chrissie White for attempted murder of Lawrence White.
Andy Sugden leaves behind daughter Sarah, who was born when Debbie was just 15 and they named the child after Andy’s late adopted mum.
Meanwhile, Sarah’s mum Debbie has recently made a return to the soap and she surprised viewers by telling the youngster she had to “do the right thing” when it came to the drugs scandal.
Debbie said: “Ethan’s done nothing wrong and yet he’s the one that’s suffering. People have been whispering about him.
“They see him now and they see a black guy who’s been pushing drugs. People are judging him and he’s the one who’s having to deal with the fallout - it’s not right.
“You are brave enough to deal with this. You have to talk to him, and you have to apologise and whatever happens I will be by your side no matter what happens, I promise you.”
Debbie’s decision left fans shocked as she became the responsible parent, and luckily Sarah agreed with what her mum had to say.
One fan penned: “Debbie encouraging Sarah to do the right thing. #Emmerdale."
Another added: "Debbie has to do the right thing, she can’t let Ethan take the blame for Sarah & Dannys actions, that’s not a good life’s lesson @emmerdale team Nate on this one."
Charley, who portrays Debbie, has been on maternity leave and she extended it to give her more time to adjust to being a mother-of-three.
The star, who is married to co-star David Metcalfe, gave birth to her adorable third son, Ace, in July 2019, as her Emmerdale character headed off to Scotland.
Charley said her children are her priority at the moment, OK! magazine reports.
She told us: “At home with the kids is where I need to be at the moment.
“We’re in talks, and work has been amazing about giving me the extra time I need.”
After praising the soap for their support, Charley told us she is still adjusting to life as a mother-of-three.
