The government has announced a wave of support packages to help households cope with the rising cost of living crisis.

  • Attendance Allowance
  • Constant Attendance Allowance
  • Disability Living Allowance for adults
  • Disability Living Allowance for children
  • Personal Independence Payment
  • Adult Disability Payment (in Scotland)
  • Child Disability Payment (in Scotland)
  • Armed Forces Independence Payment
  • War Pension Mobility Supplement

Furthermore, you must have received a payment or be due to receive a payment of one of the qualifying benefits for May 25, 2022 in order to receive the cost of living payment. If you get a qualifying disability benefit form the Ministry of Defence (MOD) as well as a qualifying benefit from the DWP, you will only get a cost of living payment from the DWP.

It's important to double-check that you're eligible before receiving the cost of living payment because if a mistake is made, you may be asked to pay back the money given to you. Cost of living payments for disability benefit recipients will begin to be made from September 2022.

It is expected that payments will first be made to those who receive their benefit from the DWP, before moving on to those receiving a benefit from the MOD.

There is also no need to apply for the disability cost of living payment as it will be made automatically depending on the DWP's systems. The payment will be tax-free and will not affect the benefit cap or any existing benefit awards.
