Who is DIDE? The mysterious rapper who has gone viral after claiming he's a Premier League star

A masked rapper who claims to be a top flight footballer has got music and football fans racking their brains over his real identity. Known as DIDE, the artist has so far released three music videos with one of them amassing over one million views on Youtube.

In the videos, DIDE wears his signature black and silver face mask as he raps about his lifestyle, passion for music and footballing ability. DIDE raps in what sounds like a southern accent but not much is known about which team he plays for or what position thanks to his lyrics being very vague.

However, he does leave some clues and hints about who he could possibly be. On his very first video which is titled 'Intro' the description reads, "Premier league footballer jumps in the UK music scene with this freestyle video. Keeping his identity unknown by wearing a uniquely designed mask that is covered in roses. He goes by the name.....DIDE."

The song is filled with metaphors, similes and wordplays referencing football with stars like Foden, Neymar and Harry Kane getting a mention. However, some lyrics have had many fans speculating about what position he plays, his age and his team with lines like "lately my heads been all over the place. A lot of times it could have gone left and I could have got benched cause the play weren't great." and "and I'm fast on the clock, man's speedy, one-two and I'm gone like Ney."

Many have also suggested that DIDE's claim is a marketing stunt which has seen a unknown artist gain almost over 72K followers on Instagram where he claims to be a "Rapper at home Footballer on the pitch⁣" in his bio.

If DIDE turns out to be a Premier League footballer he won't be the first to get in the booth. Legends like John Barnes and Andy Cole have been known to roc the mic as well as former Fulham player Clint Dempsey, Yannick Bolasie who played for Crystal Palace and former Liverpool winger Ryan Babel.

The most recent most high profile case however, has been former Manchester United player Memphis Depay. The Dutch and Atletico Madrid star has cited rap as one of his passions and regularly releases songs and freestyles with one of his biggest songs 'No Love' racking up 19 million views. on Youtube.
