Manchester United youngster Dan Gore was involved in a fiery training ground incident over the weekend as he tussled with Anthony Martial.
The Red Devils’ starlet was invited to take part in first-team training by boss Erik ten Hag as he made up the numbers with large swaths of the current squad having jetted off to Qatar for the World Cup. Things did not go particularly smoothly though as the 18-year-old clattered Martial with a crunching challenge despite tackles on established first team stars being forbidden.
Tempers then boiled over with the Frenchman lashing out before the pair were pulled apart. Martial apologised shortly after with peace then being restored at Carrington. Who is the Red Devils youngster at the heart of the drama though? Mirror Football takes a look…
Who is Dan Gore?
Gore, 18, is an attacking midfielder currently making his way through the United youth system. He joined the Red Devils from Burnley and has also earned recognition on the international stage.
He was rewarded with his first professional contract at Old Trafford just last summer. The midfielder was invited to train alongside the Red Devils’ first team in April last year by former boss Ralf Rangnick.
Gore also played a part in United’s FA Youth Cup victory against Nottingham Forest at the end of last season alongside the likes of Charlie McNeill and Alejandro Garnacho. His displays for United’s youth sides have been enough to see him earn international recognition having been a part of the England sides at both the U16 and U18 age groups.

Posting on Instagram after putting pen to paper on his first professional deal, he wrote: “Very proud moment for me and my family to sign my first professional contract at the biggest club in the world @manchesterunited. Hard work continues!”
Meanwhile, he was also ecstatic having played a role in the club's Youth Cup win. " FA youth cup champions!!! What an unbelievable night! So special to win it in-front of the fans. Class of ‘22," he wrote.
What will happen next?
It appears unlikely that either Gore or Martial will face further punishment for their parts in the skirmish during United’s training session. The youngster will certainly hope to keep playing a part in training during the World Cup and indeed catch Ten Hag’s eye.
United are not back in competitive action again until their EFL Cup showdown with Burnley on 21 December with their next Premier League tie coming against Nottingham Forest on 27 December. Whilst their League Cup exploits could potentially see Gore handed a chance to make his United debut, he will look to the forthcoming FA Cup Third Round in January - although the Red Devils are yet to learn their opponents.
The Red Devils also face Cadiz and Real Betis in friendly ties before then so Gore will likely be eyeing a role in those two matches.
