Ex-Premier League star Christian Atsu was found alive by rescuers yesterday as they searched the rubble for survivors of the huge earthquake that shattered southern Turkey.
Atsu is well know for his spells at a number of Premier League clubs including Chelsea and Newcastle.
But what do we know about the Ghanaian winger?

Who is Christian Atsu?
Atsu was born in Ada Foah in Ghana in January 1992. He showed footballing prowess at an early age and attended the Feyenoord Football Academy at Gomoa Fetteh in central Ghana. It is now known as the West African Football Academy.
He then joined Cheetah F.C but his talents had already been spotted from afar.
Atsu's early career
Porto signed Atsu at the age of 17 in 2011. He underwent a series of loan spells and finally made a breakthrough into the first team in the 2012-13 season. Overall he played 29 games for the Portuguese side scoring one goal.
He signed for Chelsea in 2013 and was immediately loaned out to Dutch outfit Vitesse Arnhem for the duration of the 2013-14 season. Whilst there he managed 5 goals in 30 appearances. Atsu's loan moves didn't end there as he also found himself at Everton, Bournemouth, Malaga and Newcastle before the Tyneside club signed him permanently in 2016.
The Ghanaian became a regular fixture in Newcastle sides over the following five seasons and was part of the side that won the Championship in 2017. Overall he featured for Newcastle on 121 occasions scoring 8 goals.
Atsu's post Newcastle career
Since leaving Newcastle in 2021 Atsu has struggled for form and consistency notching up just 12 appearances in two seasons for Saudi Pro-League side Al-Raed and Turkish Super-Lig side Hatayspor. His first goal in Turkey was a last minute winner against Kasimpasa on Sunday.

Atsu is married and has two sons and a daughter.
What is known about his current condition?
Atsu was reported trapped in rubble in the aftermath of the devastating earthquake that hit Turkey on 6th February. He was eventually found and rescued and transported to hospital suffering from a foot injury and breathing difficulties.
