Charlie McNeill is set for a big season at Man United, with the 19-year-old striker expected to be pushing for appearances in United's pre season friendlies.
The diminutive striker spent last season on loan with Newport County in League Two, following his first team debut for the Reds in a Europa League fixture against Real Sociedad in September 2022. He scored just twice in 20 appearances on loan, however, and will return to be hoping to retain the faith of Ten Hag having impressed during his early reign
He has a chance with United currently short of recognised striking talent, with Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial the only established first team players who have played the role. This means that McNeill can hope his prolific youth career can stand him in good stead as a goalscorer for United.

A boyhood United fan, he joined from Manchester City, commanding a £750k fee as a 17-year-old before scoring 24 goals in 21 matches for the club's U18 side in his first season.
His goalscoring exploits started with a reported 600 goals in his junior career. And his manager at Newport County, Graham Coughlan feels he will have be an improved player for the loan experience.
"Charlie's had a real positive impact since he's come into the football club," Coughlan told the Manchester Evening News in April. "The football is totally different. The football he plays at Man United, the facilities, the way they play, it's really really different to League Two," he said.
"So it's a great learning curve for him, the physical side of the game as well, it's something that he's getting to grips with. It's been a really good loan for ourselves, and we hope Charlie and Manchester United see it that way as well."
