British comedian and actor Babatúndé Aléshé is taking part in this year’s I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! - and it’s fair to say he’s more than just a little excited about it.

Aléshé will be among the first batch of contestants entering the Australian jungle on Sunday, November 6, and is set to face some stomach-churning trials.

He is best known for starring in TV shows including EastEnders and Dr Who, as well as Celebrity Gogglebox alongside Mo Gilligan.

He’s admitted that his phobias include “absolutely everything”, so his I’m a Celebrity stint should be unmissable viewing.

Aléshé will be joined on the ITV show by celebrities such as royal family member Mike Tindall and MP Matt Hancock, as well as former England Lionesses footballer Jill Scott and radio broadcaster Chris Moyles.

Among others set to appear on the programme are pop star Boy George, former Love Island contestant Olivia Attwood, comedian Seann Walsh, and broadcaster Charlene White.

Here’s everything you need to know about Aléshé.

Who is Babatúndé Aléshé?

Aléshé, 36, is a London-born actor, writer and comedian, who has toured the UK with his sell-out shows. He’s performed at leading venues such as the Soho Theatre, the O2 and the Hackney Empire.

Accolades he’s won include the Best Newcomer at the Black Entertainment Comedy Awards.

In 2019, he won the Amused Moose National New Comic Award, and was selected to appear on Dave Chapelle’s live showcase, The Process.

Aléshé recently appeared on Celebrity Gogglebox, where he sat alongside fellow comedian Gilligan.

He’s also had stints on Doctor Who, EastEnders, and Law and Order: UK.

His other starring roles include appearances on New Tricks in 2003, as well as Pelican Blood and the Naked Poet.

Talking about how Gilligan finds it hilarious that he is taking part in I’m a Celebrity, Aléshé said: “Mo thinks it is going to be funny but he also thinks it is good I am taking part. He is far too busy though to vote for me for the trials but in his head, he will be.”

He also admitted that he’s scared of “absolutely everything”, revealing: “I am going to see what happens but I know I will be doing a lot of screaming for sure.”

Aléshé said he was not looking forward to taking part in the show’s famed Bushtucker trials.

“In terms of the one I am dreading the most, I saw one where someone was lying in a box and they put things into the box like snakes and mice. Now that would freak me out. I think I will lose it.”

He also thinks the show will be the perfect opportunity for people to get to know him better, saying: “Hopefully it won’t be a mistake. People are going to get to know me through this show a bit better and I just want to enjoy everything. I don’t want to be King of the Jungle. I am quite happy to go back to normal life afterwards.

“But it will be a great adventure and my wife is excited and happy I am doing it.”
