Arctic Monkeys have released their new album today (October 21).
The Car is the seventh studio album to be released by the English rock band, who have produced massive hits including I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor and When The Sun Goes Down since their beginnings back in 2002.
The band are also set to embark on a tour for the new album, which will see them head to stadiums around Europe and North America.
Explaining the reasoning behind their latest album's name, lead singer Alex Turner recently told Zane Lowe in an Apple Music 1 interview: “There’s a few songs on here in which I say the two words, ‘The Car’. Like three or four times I think it happens.
"I was like, “I’m either going to have to change some of them or just double down and call it the whole thing.'"
The frontman is also the principal songwriter of the band, who have now made their return four years after their last album was released.
It's been two decades since they first formed the band, and with their recent comeback many fans will be wondering what Turner's life is like now — here's who he's dating and whether he changed his accent over the years.
Who is Alex Turner dating?
Alex Turner is currently dating Louise Verneuil, a French singer and songwriter.
The couple were first spotted together back in 2018 while Turner's band was touring for their Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino album.
In 2020 Turner then decided to leave Los Angeles after spending six years in the UK, opting to return home with Louise so that she could be closer to France.
The Guardian revealed last month that the couple are still going strong, with Turner now living between London and Paris with the 33-year-old French national.
Prior to his romance with Louise, Turner was also known for dating many other successful women including British model Alexa Chung, American actress Arielle Vandenberg and US model Taylor Bagley.
Did Alex Turner change his Sheffield accent?
As well as being known for his musical talent, Turner is also renowned for his thick Yorkshire accent, with the frontman and his bandmates growing up in a suburb of Sheffield.
But the singer's accent appeared to change after moving to the US in 2013 and fans picked up on the change during the band's performance at Glastonbury that year.
Following their gig on the Pyramid stage fans were quick to comment on Turner's new American twang as he was branded "Sheffield's Elvis".
Responding to the comments after the set, Turner told NME: “I’ve been pointing my hands for ages though! Maybe it’s just the quiff confusing people? Jo Whiley just said I was channeling my inner Elvis, but I dunno man. It’s not intentional!”
In 2017 even Liam Gallagher slated Turner's "American" accent, telling the BBC : “The singing's alright for me, you know what I mean? It's when they do an interview later on down the line, and they've been to America once, and they come back speaking American."
