Scotland's tennis superstar Andy Murray kicked off his 2022 Wimbledon campaign on Monday with a win over Australia's James Duckworth. The Scotsman fought back after losing the first set to secure his spot in the second round.
Stepping on the court for the first time since suffering an abdominal injury in the grand finale of the Stuttgart Open earlier this month, Murray came through 4-6 6-3 6-2 6-4 in two hours and 43 minutes under a closed roof on Centre Court. The victory saw the 35-year-old maintain his record of never losing in the first round of Wimbledon.
In fact, Murray has never been put out of the competition before the third round. It means the pressure is truly on as the Scot looks forward to his next match. The former world No.1 has now dropped to rank 52, but he will be looking to give himself a boost in front of a home crowd this competition.

The twice Wimbledon champion and one-time US Open winner will face John Isner in the second round of the prestigious competition. Former semi-finalist Isner is number 26 in the world at the moment but he needed five sets to beat French qualifier Enzo Couacaud in the first round. The two will meet tomorrow with the time yet to be confirmed. But it’s likely the Dunblane hero will again have his favoured primetime slot, which means he’ll be third on Centre Court and anytime after 5pm.

The Scotsman's odds have been slashed after his performance in the first round of the competition. But he is still an outside for the title.
