'Who do you think you are?' - Neil Lennon lets rip at reporter after accusation

Furious Neil Lennon leapt to the defence of his Omonia players after their character was questioned in defeat to Apollon Limassol.

The former Celtic and Hibs boss let rip at a reporter who criticised his side in a post-match press conference following their 2-1 league defeat on Sunday.

The Daily Record report that Omonia took the lead through Bruno Felipe before second-half goals from Ioannis Pittas and Bassel Jradi left Lennon's side reeling.

But the Irishman reacted angrily to a question casting doubt on his team's mental strength as he blasted "who do you think you are?' in response to the accusation.

He demanded the journalist never question his side's character again, insisting he had "no right" to make such an accusation.

Lennon said: "Don't you criticise my players. You don't have the right to do that. That is your opinion. You are entitled to it but don't ask me about the character of my players. Ever.

"These players give me everything. They've had a bad night tonight but don't you sit there and criticise them for lacking character. That is one thing they don't.

"They didn't play well tonight. I will deal with it as best I can. But I am not having people like you questioning their backbone. Who do you think you are?"

Sunday's defeat followed Omonia going down 3-0 to Sheriff in their Europa League group stage opener in midweek. They next face a serious test against Real Sociedad, who beat Manchester United on Thursday.
