Who can Manchester United face in Europa League play-off draw? Barcelona and Juventus possible opponents

Manchester United will face a Champions League dropout for the right to progress through in the Europa League.

After finishing second in their Europa League group, the Red Devils could now be drawn against the likes of Barcelona and Juventus for a place in the last-16 stage.

Last week’s 1-0 win at Real Sociedad meant they missed out on a bye to the knockout stage proper on goal difference.

Clubs from the same country cannot be drawn against each other, though United are the sole English team needing to navigate the play-offs.

Who can Manchester United face in the Europa League draw?

Champions League third-placed teams: Ajax, Barcelona, Bayer Leverkusen, Sevilla, Sporting CP, Juventus, Salzburg, Shakhtar Donetsk.

When is the Europa League draw?

The Europa League play-off round draw takes place on Monday, November 7, 2022 at 12pm GMT from Nyon, Switzerland.

The first legs will take place on February 16, 2023, and the second legs are scheduled for a week later, on February 23.
