It's the game that has taken the world by storm.
People across the globe have been frustratingly pitting their wits against their phones and computers to guess the five-letter word of the day with just six attempts and very few clues. It has attracted millions of players, with Wordle even becoming so popular that the New York Times stumped up an astonishing seven-figure sum to purchase the game from its creator Josh Wardle back in January.
And now, it has its own unofficial football spin off.
Who Are Ya? follows a similar strategy, with users getting eight attempts to guess the footballer of the day, with clues only ranging in five areas - nationality, league, club, position and age. Players are only picked from Europe's top five leagues, but that still leaves a wealth of options to choose from - and fans painstakingly racking their brains.
But who is the footballer in question for Tuesday, March 22?
Users are given a blurred picture as your sole clue from the off, and this writer took a punt on Barcelona star Ousmane Dembele - only to be informed the only corresponding factor was his age - 24. Figuring by narrowing down the player to his respective nationality or division it would give a greater chance of guessing it quickly, Arsenal's English winger Bukayo Saka was the next port of call (I know he's not 24).
Fortunately the tactic paid off, confirming it was an English Premier League star we were searching for, and finding the next clue proved fairly straightforward - this time opting for Crystal Palace's Tyrick Mitchell revealed it was indeed a defender, although it proved to be slightly troublesome from there.
Opting against using a Google search and relying on some pathetic knowledge of 24-year-old English Premier League defenders, two incorrect guesses followed - choosing a player from a different club each time - before eventually striking lucky on the sixth attempt: Manchester United's Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
Have your say: Should Man Utd sell Wan-Bissaka this summer? Let us know in the comments below.
In hindsight, it should have been a simpler answer to get to, although Wan-Bissaka's lack of playing time of late can provide a slightly bearable excuse. He has made just five appearances since the turn of the year having fallen largely out of favour under interim boss Ralf Rangnick.
Diogo Dalot has been the more preferred choice in recent months and Wan-Bissaka could find himself at a crossroads come the summer, though the appointment of a new manager at Old Trafford could give the £50million signing a boost in his hopes for selection.
Former Man Utd full-back Paul Parker feels that it could be the end of the road for Wan-Bissaka at United however, as he told BonusCodeBets earlier this month : “If it is that way, it’s a shame. But the bonus for him is that he has been there and he has done it, so experience-wise, he’ll be a better person after being there, as long as he keeps his head right, and not take it as a negative. Because the negative could have been if he had turned it down, saying he was content playing for Crystal Palace.”
