WHL Roundup: Crnkovic collects 4 points, Blades upset Ice for 4th straight win

SASKATOON — Kyle Crnkovic and Brandon Lisowsky each score twice and the Saskatoon Blades extended their win streak to four games with a 7-2 thrashing of the WHL-leading Winnipeg Ice on Saturday.

Jayden Wiens and Noah Boyko had a goal and an assist apiece, and Vaughn Watterodt also scored for the Blades (21-14-1-1). Tristen Robins had four assists, while Crnkovic, Egor Sidorov and Trevor Wong had two helpers each.

Goaltender Nolan Maier stopped 28-of-30 shots.

Jack Finley, on the power play, and Skyler Bruce scored for the Ice (29-6-2-0), which saw their four-game win streak snapped. Daniel Hauser gave up seven goals on 24 shots. 

Saskatoon went 2 for 3 on the power play. Winnipeg was 1 for 3.

The Blades have won four in a row by a combined score of 26-9.

Elsewhere in the WHL, the Swift Current Broncos defeated the Lethbridge Hurricanes 3-1; the Medicine Hat Tigers rallied for a 6-4 win over the Prince Albert Raiders; and the Moose Jaw Warriors eked out a 5-4 victory against the Red Deer Rebels.

Also, the Tri-City Americans triumphed over the Spokane Chiefs 4-1; the Kamloops Blazers came from behind to beat the Prince George Cougars 3-2; the Portland Winterhawks thumped the Seattle Thunderbirds 5-1; and the Everett Silvertips overcame the Victoria Royals 5-3.
