VICTORIA — The Kamloops Blazers were one of three WHL teams to extend their win streak to eight games with a convincing 8-2 victory over the Victoria Royals Saturday.
Matthew Seminoff and Daylan Kuefler each scored twice to propel the second-place Blazers (30-11-1-0) to another win. Connor Levis, Luke Toporowski, Drew Englot and Dylan Sydor also scored for Kamloops.
Fraser Minten and Reese Belton had two assists apiece. Goalie Dyland Garand stopped 26 shots.
Brayden Schuurman and Keanu Derungs replied for the Royals (12-25-4-1), which are winless in their past 13 games. Tarun Fizer assisted both goals.
Campbell Arnold allowed eight goals on 37 shots. Jayden Kraus came on in relief in the game's dying minutes. He stopped all four shots he faced.
Elsewhere in the WHL, the Kelowna Rockets also extended their win streak to eight games with a 6-1 win over the Tri-City Americans. The Moose Jaw Warriors stretched their streak to eight by beating the Medicine Hat Tigers 5-2.
The Red Deer Rebels easily downed the Saskatoon Blades 6-1; the Edmonton Oil Kings bounced back from a loss with a 5-2 defeat of the Prince Albert Raiders; and the Swift Current Broncos edged the Lethbridge Hurricanes 2-1.
The Everett Silvertips won their seventh straight by blanking the Prince George Cougars 6-0; the Seattle Thunderbirds rode a big first period toward a 7-2 victory over the Vancouver Giants; and the Portland Winterhawks kept rolling with a 7-3 rout of the Spokane Chiefs for their ninth consecutive triumph.
