Recent observations outside the West Wing have revealed movers busy at work, transferring various items such as tables, framed photographs, art pieces, and chairs into a moving van parked on West Executive Drive. Additionally, ladders and cardboard boxes were seen being moved inside the premises.
It is important to note that many artifacts and pieces of furniture within the West Wing are on loan from the official White House Collection. These items are part of a well-documented process that involves the preservation of thousands of art pieces, decorations, sculptures, china, silverware, and other historical items. When it comes time to move out, there is a systematic return of these loaned items to the White House Historical Association, in collaboration with the chief usher and curator of the White House.
As part of the transition process, a majority of the Biden White House staffers have already sent their farewell notes and turned in their phones and laptops. However, a small group of close aides are expected to remain logged in through the weekend and Monday.
The official move of the White House is scheduled for Monday, during which approximately 95 members of the residence staff will be working diligently to transform the residence from one first family to the next.
