White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt addressed the recent announcement made by US President Donald Trump regarding a potential meeting between him and Russian President Vladimir Putin. Leavitt stated that she was not informed of any preconditions set for the meeting, but acknowledged that they could exist despite her lack of awareness.
Leavitt mentioned that she had discussed the matter with the president and the national security team, emphasizing her willingness to provide any information on conditions if they were indeed in place. She also clarified that retired Gen. Keith Kellogg, the president's envoy to Ukraine and Russia, remains a part of the administration, despite not being explicitly mentioned by Trump as one of the leaders in the negotiations between the two nations.

In a previous development, Trump had nominated Kellogg to serve as assistant to the president and special envoy for Ukraine and Russia. The president expressed his commitment to achieving peace through strength in a post on Truth Social, highlighting the importance of diplomatic efforts in securing stability in the region.
