While no official Celtics All-Star starters are slated for 2022, Jayson Tatum may be poised to become one by a technicality

The starters for the 2022 NBA All-Star game have been announced, and among them, there is not a single Boston Celtic player to be found, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be one once the mid-February friendly is played in Cleveland Ohio.

Confused? Chalk it up to the injury of Brooklyn Nets star forward Kevin Durant, whose injury will all but certainly keep him out of the annual exhibition game. Per Yahoo Sports’ Ben Rohrbach, that puts the next-highest vote getter at the frontcourt position in line to start — and in this year’s returns, that would be a one Jayson Tatum.

While not official, keep an eye out for such a designation should KD eschew the All-Star game for the second season in a row, which seems inevitable given the reporting by Yahoo Sports’ Chris Haynes and the event taking place on Feb. 20.
