Which London Underground lines are closing next week?

Next week will see a number of Underground lines closed for several hours.

The move is expected to cause major disruption to passengers using the Tube to get around the capital.

Transport for London (TfL) will be shutting down the Circle, District, Hammersmith and City, Jubilee, and Metropolitan Lines on Saturday, November 11.

Thankfully, the closures are only meant to last until 3pm that day, with services resuming afterwards.

The blanket shutdown will be put in place to let a “transformative” new signalling system be installed.

While the District, and Hammersmith and City lines will have replacement buses operating for the entire line, the Jubilee line will only have replacement buses between Finchley Road and Wembley Park, and North Greenwich to Stratford.

Meanwhile, there will no replacement buses for the Circle line, while the Metropolitan line will have limited replacement operations. However, Metropolitan line customers can opt for Chiltern Railways services to travel between Harrow-on-the-Hill and Marylebone.

There will also be reduced service on the London Overground over remembrance weekend, which will take place on Saturday, November 11 and Sunday, November 12. There will be reduced operations between Kilburn High Road and Euston.

Overground trains between Watford Junction and Kilburn High Road will operate at half-past the hour, between 6.30am and 8.30 pm on Saturday, and between 11.30am and 8.30pm on Sunday.

As for the Overground trains from Euston, trains will depart 15 minutes past each hour between 7.15am and 9.15 am on Saturday, and between 12.15 pm and 9.15 pm on Sunday.

Talking about the travel disruption, a spokesperson for Transport for London told MyLondon: “The closure will facilitate testing of a transformative new signalling system that will improve reliability and journey times on these lines.

“Rail-replacement bus services will be in place, but customers are advised to check before they travel and seek alternative routes on this day.”
