The list of available free agent quarterbacks is shrinking.
As the Denver Broncos continue seeking a Russell Wilson replacement, ten notable veterans are now off the board:
- Sam Darnold (Minnesota Vikings)
- Jameis Winston (Cleveland Browns)
- Mitch Trubisky (Buffalo Bills)
- Jacoby Brissett (New England Patriots)
- Tyrod Taylor (New York Jets)
- Mac Jones (Jacksonville Jaguars)
- Gardner Minshew (Las Vegas Raiders)
- Marcus Mariota (Washington Commanders)
- Kirk Cousins (Atlanta Falcons)
- Baker Mayfield (Tampa Buccaneers)
So, who’s left for the Broncos?
It’s not a very exciting list.
The trade candidates include Sam Howell, Justin Fields and Zach Wilson. The list of veteran free agents includes Jimmy Garoppolo*, Ryan Tannehill and Joe Flacco (Garoppolo is expected to be released by the Las Vegas Raiders). Drew Lock is also a free agent, but he seems unlikely to return to Denver.
The Broncos also hold the 12th overall pick in the NFL draft this year. Even if the team adds a veteran, Denver is expected to draft a QB in April. In the meantime, here’s a quick list of 13 available QBs as of Tuesday morning.
