The Arizona Cardinals are in their offseason mode. The NFL league year begins in March, which will mark the beginning of free agency. They have been active signing currently unsigned players, mostly those who have been on practice squads during the season, to reserve deals.
But the Cardinals have a number of players whose contracts expire in March.
The league has three types of free agents — unrestricted, restricted and exclusive rights.
Unrestricted free agents can sign with anyone. Teams can place a qualifying tender on a restricted free agent, allowing them to match an offer made by a another team and potentially receiving draft compensation if they do not match. Exclusive rights free agents are players with less than three years credited, which means they only will be able to test the open market if the team does not choose to retain them with a qualifying offer.
Who are the players who will be free agents? Let’s have a look.
