But if you are worried about not getting your passport in time or don't have one - there are still opportunities for you to enjoy a trip away.
Within the Common Travel Area, you are able to travel between countries without a passport.
These countries include;
- England
- Wales
- Scotland
- Northern Ireland
- plus the Crown Dependencies (Bailiwick of Jersey, Bailiwick of Guernsey and the Isle of Man)
- Ireland
While you don't need a passport, only photographic ID is required - such as a driving licence or provisional driver's licence.
However travellers should be wary if they are travelling by plane as airlines such as Ryanair require passports for all their flights, regardless of destination.
It may not be Spain, but in the summer months, the Crown Dependencies such as Jersey and Guernsey can be a lot warmer than Scotland as they sit north of France.
So even if you don't have a passport, you could still get a chance to feel like you've gone abroad and enjoy a change of scenery.
