Where will the Queen be buried as Prince Philip's body to be moved to rest beside monarch

Queen Elizabeth II's funeral will take place on Monday (September 19), with thousands of mourners flocking to London to pay their respects.

Following a State Funeral service at Westminster Abbey, the Last Post will sound at the conclusion of the State Funeral and there will then be a national two minutes silence, followed by a national anthem that will end by 12 noon. The Queen's coffin will then process to Wellington Arch via The Mall and pass by Buckingham Palace for the final time.

The Queen will be buried in the small chapel in the side of St George's where her mother and father are. She will be laid to rest with her husband Prince Philip whose coffin has been resting in the Royal Vault since he died.

Prince Philip’s coffin will move from the Royal Vault to the memorial chapel to join the Queen’s, the Mirror reports. The Queen's coffin was made for her more than 30 years ago, by the same firm that made the casket in which the Duke of Edinburgh lies buried.

When Prince Philip passed away in April 2021, it was confirmed that he would not be buried until the Queen's death. Prince Philip will be moved so he can join his wife for the final time and they can be laid to rest together.

Apart from the Duke of Edinburgh, there are currently 24 other royals buried at the Royal Vault. These include Prince Edward, father of Queen Victoria, two of George III''s sons Prince Alfred and Prince Octavius, and mother of Queen Mary Princess Mary Adelaide, Duchess of Teck.
