Snow is set to arrive in parts of the region, so you might be thinking of enjoying a bit of sledging with the kids.
When it does fall, it's never around for long, so make the most of it by wrapping up warm and hitting the slopes in one of these popular sledging spots around Greater Manchester.

Sledging in Manchester
Platt Fields Park in Fallowfield has some slopes at the back suitable for sledging. It's popular with students and easy to get to by bus if you don't want to drive in this weather. Check with Transport for Greater Manchester whether your service is running first.
Heaton Park is technically in Bury, but one side of it is in Manchester and you can get the tram or drive to it easily. Plus it's got some really big hills.
And the big hill behind the parkland on Collyhurst is another spot recommended by those in the know.
Sledging in Salford
Peel Park, immortalised by L.S. Lowry, is a firm favourite for sledging in Salford, but there are plenty of other choices including Clifton Country Park, Blackleach Country Park and Buile Hill.
Sledging in Bolton
Winter Hill, on the border of Chorley, Blackburn, Darwen and Bolton can be seen for miles. You might be in for a bumpy ride under all that snow, but you will certainly clear some ground.
Rivington Pike is another popular spot for families and you'll usually find parents and kids out in force when the snow hits.
Sledging in Oldham
Tandle Hill Country Park is the oldest country park in the borough which probably means it is the oldest sledging hot spot in Oldham as well.
Most people living in Oldham probably know about this already - and Emma McAvoy and Stacey Odare both recommended it when we asked for suggestions on Facebook - but if you don’t then it is well worth a visit.
Sledging in Tameside
Cheetham Park in Stalybridge has a seriously steep hill right above the children’s play area so it is perfect for a good run.
Plus the entrance on Park Street has parking and is just off the main road so there should be no issues driving there in bad weather.
The hill next to Brushes Road, opposite Stalybridge Country Park, is also popular with sledgers when snow falls.
Sledging in Rochdale
Springfield Park is the largest one in Rochdale so there should be plenty of room and lots of hills.
Sledging in Stockport
Lyme Park has the advantage of the house as a stunning back drop. While it may not have huge hills there are lots of slopes to choose from. Some are less steep than others so it is perfect for families and the huge space can make it less crowded.
Sledging in Bury
Peel Tower is a bit of a trek up Holcombe Hill but it’s worth it for the stunning views and the fun you will have on the way back down.
If the weather clears up you will be able to see all the way to Manchester city centre.
Sledging in Trafford
Get yourself down to John Leigh Park in Altrincham. It's got 14 acres of sloping parkland - what more could you ask for?
Sledging in Wigan
Borsdane Wood is largely covered in trees but there are 1.54 hectares of open land, and is a popular sledging haunt for those in the know. This is considered a hidden gem, and it does feel as though you are escaping the town centre.
