Where to find flexwood in Lego Fortnite

Getting the Lego Fortnite flexwood material is a pretty lengthy process compared to harvesting the open-world game’s other necessary items – and flexwood definitely is necessary. You need it for crafting high-level weapons, better tools, and even the health charms that keep you going in the face of rollers and other powerful enemies. Getting it requires some additional upgrades first, though, and a long trek into the dusty wilderness.

Our Lego Fortnite flexwood guide points out where to look and how to get all of it that you’ll need.

Lego Fortnite flexwood locations

In Lego Fortnite, you get flexwood from cactus plants, and those only grow in one place: the desert. That’s what players call it anyway, but the official name is the Dry Valley biome. Whatever you call it, you won’t reach it for a while after you spawn in a new world. The Dry Valley desert biome is a long way from your starting point. In my experience, it’s usually past the Shores biome – the beach one – and as a general rule, you can find it by facing away from the icy mountains and heading in that direction.

The actual cactus plants are as common in the Dry Valley desert as trees are everywhere else. The downside is that you need a special tool to get flexwood from them – the Rare Axe.

Lego Fortnite flexwood - How to get the rare axe

The Rare Axe is a tier-three tool, which means you need to upgrade your forest axe twice. That requires upgrading your crafting bench using planks and shells, and you also need to get Rough Amber for processing. The Uncommon Pickaxe is your tool of choice for harvesting amber, and we explained how to get that in our Lego Fortnite marble guide.

Once you have the axe in hand, you can chop away to your heart’s content and your axe’s durability.

One alternative if you have explosives on hand and don’t feel like upgrading your axe is to just blow up the cactus plants. It’s messy, but it works.

If you need a break from exploration, Epic launched a Fortnite racing mode that brings together the best of Rocket League and Mario Kart.
