Where to buy RTX 5070, RTX 5080 and RTX 5090 — live updates and stock checker

Nvidia rtx 50 series.

This is it!

After a huge sell-out of the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 and RTX 5080, the RTX 5070 Ti is set to go on sale Thursday, February 20 at 6AM PT / 9AM ET / 2 PM GMT.

As you already may have guessed from the fact that the pricier GPUs sold out in minutes, the $749 (£729) RTX 5070 Ti is going to be very highly in demand. More so given the fact that its pricing and specs seem to make it ultimate value for money combo breaker to get into 4K gaming.

Following this, RTX 50-series laptops will go on sale on February 25, and the $549 (£539) RTX 5070 will go on sale on March 5. During all of this, we're hearing rumblings that Nvidia and all of its third party partners are preparing for a massive restock of 5090 and 5080.

And based on my time testing these GPUs, is it really any wonder why they're so popular? DLSS 4 is a breakthrough in enabling 4K 240 FPS gaming — thanks to multi-frame gen and a whole bunch of neural rendering technologies.

So I want to make sure you’ve got the best chance possible to pick up one of these GPUs when and where they're available, so we're updating this live blog with stock info as we find it!

LIVE: LATEST UPDATES

I'm here to help you get an RTX 5070 Ti

Welcome to the live blog! You know how this works — I'm going to help you get an RTX 5070 Ti when they launch on February 20 at 9AM ET / 6AM PT / 2PM GMT.

Throughout today, I'll give you a to do list of things that will help you get a head start on buying one, alongside sharing all the latest news surrounding RTX 50-series cards and what our own testing is showing us about the most powerful GPUs you can buy.

To start, here are the retailers who will be stocking this card.

Tip #1: Start refreshing a few minutes before

The first tip comes from the last time I had to join a rush to buy a GPU. Given the timing of this launch seems particularly strict, then the queueing system should start at 9am ET / 6am PT / 2pm GMT on the dot.

If that's the case, it pays to start refreshing the product page of your chosen GPU a few minutes before — that way you can hopefully be one of the first to see that "coming soon" button change to "add to cart."

Tip #2: Create an account and pre-save your payment details

All to often I see a lot of people fall at the last hurdle of buying a high-demand product because they didn't set up a store account before.

Whether it's Newegg, Best Buy or anyone else, take the time now to setup an account and pre-fill in all your payment and address details. That way, everything is saved and you can just click through all of this — instead of trying to feverishly type it out while the stock drains away.

DLSS 4 is a real upgrade

Since we posted our testing, CD Projekt Red issued its update to Cyberpunk 2077 that brings DLSS 4 into the mix — especially multi-frame gen.

But even with that in mind, the numbers are mightily impressive over the older DLSS 3.5.

So as you can see, moving from that convolutional neural network to the transformer model is making it smarter and more efficient in boosting frame rates!

RTX 50-series laptops will be available to pre-order starting February 25!

We've seen a lot of exciting RTX 50-series gaming laptops confirmed at CES 2025, and now we've got confirmation that they are going to be available to pre-order from February 25.

And if the pricing of the Acer Predator Helios Neo 16 AI is anything to go by, we can expect pricing for the mid-rangers to start at the $1,500 mark. I know Nvidia says starting price $1,299, but I'm dubious we'll ever see something get that cheap until a big sales event later in the year.

I know we cover the best gaming laptops, and any on that list now are worth buying. But if you want the latest and greatest, I recommend waiting for a couple weeks now!

Technically, there's RTX 5080 stock...but don't buy it

I've just found the MSI Ventus 3X OC Plus on Amazon. That's the good news! The bad news is there's one left, and you'll be paying a whopping $2,499 for it.

The price hikes for demand are crazy right now, so hold onto that money for a real restock.

Building an RTX 50-series PC of your own? Here's a guide from us!

To test the RTX 5090, we pulled together the components needed to make the most of these beasty new GPUs from Nvidia, and built it from scratch.

Our testing extraordinaire Matthew Murray did all of this, and you can read his full how-to guide on building a gaming PC and the components used.

Maingear's RTX 50-series desktops available to buy

MainGear has "50 Series" custom-configurable gaming desktops available to buy. Follow this link to pick one up.

In terms of other choices you can make for your build, these include the latest CPUs like the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D or Intel Core Ultra 9 285K, and up to 96GB of DDR5 RAM. You can really create a monster here.

RTX 5090 testing reveals big gains

I know many of you are eager to assess the improvements in rendering performance without leaning on AI-powered enhancements. Nvidia’s heavy focus on buzzwords like “DLSS” and “neural” has sparked plenty of questions among our readers about how much of the gains are purely the result of raw processing power.

To address this, we centered our initial benchmarks on this aspect. The results? You’re looking at an average 22-23% increase in game frames per second (FPS) compared to the 4090.

How much more will third-party GPUs be?

It's a good question I'm being asked a lot. The Founder's Edition RTX 5080 and 5090 shipped for $999 (£979) and $1,999 (£1.939) respectively, but you saw up to $400 added onto the price for third party options.

So what will happen to the $749 (£729) RTX 5070 Ti? Well, there is no Founder's Edition, and no numbers are official yet (pricing has not been confirmed by any retailers). But if I was to predict, I'd look at some of the overclocked versions going up to that $1,000 mark.

The RTX 5070 Ti reviews are in — opinions are mixed

The embargo has lifted and the reviewer impressions fall largely in line with what we saw with our RTX 5090 testing and RTX 5080 reviews.

Jarred Walton over at Tom's Hardware called the RTX 5070 Ti a "proper high-end GPU" — provided you can find it at that $749 MSRP. On the face of it in raw rendering testing, the improvements between the 5070 Ti and 4070 Ti are minimal. Linus Tech Tips identified an up to 13% bump in performance between generations.

This comes down to the fact the manufacturing process is the same 4nm chipset, but with updated GDDR7 video memory and a higher wattage — the equivalent of adding a turbocharger to a car.

But as Linus Tech Tips found out in his video review, all the DLSS 4 and neural rendering tech is capable of pumping out Cyberpunk 2077 at 4K with Ultra Ray Tracing settings at around 160 FPS.

So in short, really good if you're not too fussy about AI rendering. But hopefully you can get one at that $749 price though!

Nvidia is dropping a new GeForce Game Ready Driver for RTX 50-series

If you've managed to bag an RTX 5090 or 5080 (or you're bagging a 5070 Ti), there will be a new GeForce Game Ready Driver for you to install that unlocks some of the key DLSS 4 features coming to the biggest titles (more on those soon).

On top of that, there will be DLSS 4 Overrides — allowing you to brute force DLSS 4 features into certain titles. Nvidia Broadcast will get two new AI-powered effects, and a new Nvidia app update will enhance RTX video super resolution, give you new multiple display settings and a whole lot more.

Downloading this is essential.

What's going on over at AMD?

Of course, Nvidia is not the only game in town when it comes to GPUs. Intel's Arc B580 has surprised me in sim racing, and AMD is announcing its new RX 9000 series next week to launch in March.

We got some details on this card back at CES 2025 — namely that the company's new chips will take on DLSS 4 with a new version of AMD's Fidelity Super Resolution (FSR) that takes advantage of AI upscaling and frame gen rather than trying to do it through rendering power.

This should bring its accuracy in frame gen closer to Nvidia!

Will AMD's answer to the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Ti cost the same?

The new Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Ti graphics card ($749) launches tomorrow (Sep 20) at 6 AM, which is why you're seeing all the reviews go live today.

We'll be waiting until March to meet the cheaper and weaker RTX 5070, and that's conveniently also when AMD will unveil its Radeon 9070 GPUs to compete with Nvidia's 50-series.

In my experience AMD has historically competed against Nvidia by focusing on value over performance, but leaked screenshots purportedly captured by data-miners show Amazon listings for Radeon RX 9070 and 9070 XT GPUs in the $650-$850 range.

If those prices are accurate AMD's answer to the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Ti could be just as expensive, which would give me serious pause if I was building a new gaming PC this year.

What are you going to play?

When discussing GPUs and the power they can deliver, we often forget to talk about which games we plan to play.

Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the most graphically-demanding games on the market, even four and a half years after its release. The RTX 5070 Ti is built for 1440p gaming and can upscale to 4K, so we're curious to see how CD Projekt Red's sci-fi epic will run on Nvidia's upcoming graphics card. Doom Eternal should run fantastically given that it's such a well-optimized title, and we're sure Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will also run splendidly.

Which games do you plan to play?

The RTX 50-series GPU to beat

While the RTX 5070 Ti isn't exactly cheap at $749, that's still more affordable than the $999 RTX 5080 and even pricier $1,999 RTX 5090. Thanks to its price and specs, this will likely be the RTX 50-series to get for most people.

Of course, the $549 might end up the winner since it will be the cheapest RTX 5070 released in the first quarter of 2025. However, we still think the RTX 5070 Ti has a chance to be most gamers' choice for their next GPU. That is unless they're fans of AMD, which has announced it will reveal its RX 9000 series cards on February 28.

Stay away from eBay

I'm poring over Nvidia RTX 50-series sales listings right now, and I gotta tell ya, the scalpers are out in force trying to squeeze hundreds of dollars out of you.

So if you're shopping for a new Nvidia 50-series GPU right now, I highly recommend you not buy from anyone on eBay, StockX or anywhere like that. A quick search for the $999 RTX 5080, for example, shows eBay listings anywhere from $1,399 to $1,799, which is almost the price of a top-tier Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090

Unless you absolutely, positively need one of these overinflated GPUs right now, stay away from these scalpers and wait for the prices to die down. These graphics cards will be easy to get before you know it, and you'll feel like a fool for getting fleeced.

A lot of people are going to be building new gaming PCs this year

Thinking about building your own 50-series gaming PC this year?

I wish I was joining you, but I'm holding out for another few years before I rebuild my rig. But our own Matthew Murray recently built a new 50-series system to test the 5090, and you can read all about it (and see what the process looks like) in his guide to how to build a PC with RTX 5090!

Is Multi-Frame Generation in DLSS 4 as good as the hype?

DLSS 4 is Nvidia's latest batch of upscaling tech, and while Nvidia GeForce RTX 40-seris and even 30-series cards are getting updated to support it, there's a DLSS 4 feature that's only supported on the new 50-series cards: Multi-Frame Generation.

This is an advanced version DLSS's existing Frame Generation tech, and it generates 3x as many AI-generated frames as Frame Generation does now. That means that when it's operating at peak efficiency, you're seeing 3 AI-generated frames for every single "real" frame your PC generates.

Personally I find Frame Generation a little risky to enable because I notice sometimes it causes graphical issues in game, and even when it doesn't it adds to input latency by adding AI-generated frames in with the real ones. But I can't argue with the results of our RTX 5090 testing, which reveal that games like Cyberpunk 2077 can get massive framerate boosts when you enable Multi-Frame Generation.

Less than 24 hours remain until RTX 5070 Ti goes on sale

The wait is almost over for the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Ti, which goes on sale tomorrow (Feb 20) starting at 9 AM ET. I expect most retailers will sell out fairly quickly, so remember these quick tips for snagging one on launch day:

  1. Create an account and pre-save your payment details at retailer(s)
  2. Log on 5 minutes before the sale starts and start refreshing the page
  3. Cross your fingers and pray

We're going to wind down the live blog for a few hours to get some rest before launch day, but before i go here's a quick rundown of where to look for RTX 5070 Ti cards when they go on sale tomorrow morning. Good luck!
