The Tennessee Titans’ hopes of repeating as the AFC’s No. 1 seed took a drastic hit on Sunday following their 20-16 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.
Fortunately, despite their recent loss, the Titans still have a comfortable lead in the division after having built themselves some breathing room over the course of the season.
Regardless of what happens with the Indianapolis Colts on Monday Night, Tennessee will end the weekend with a minimum three-game lead over the entire division when you include tiebreakers.
- Titans (7-4)
- Colts (4-6-1)
- Jaguars (4-7)
- Texans (1-9-1)
According to the New York Times playoff predictor, Tennessee has a 93 percent chance to win the division, and a 94 percent chance to make the playoffs as a whole.
Regardless, the Titans cannot become overly reliant on their sizable lead or things could get unnecessarily close as the weeks pass by.
This wasn’t an ideal weekend by any means, but at least for now Tennessee is still in good shape to secure its third consecutive AFC South crown. Now, let’s see where they stand in the AFC playoff picture.
