Following the results of Sunday’s games, the Tennessee Titans ended the day in position to pick fifth overall in the 2024 NFL draft. Unfortunately, the slate of games on Christmas changed that.
If the regular season ended today, Tennessee would now be projected to pick seventh overall, per Tankathon.
The drop-off came after the New York Giants lost to the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday, which put the Titans, Giants, and Los Angeles Chargers in a three-way tie. All three of those teams now own identical 5-10 records heading into the final two weeks.
The tiebreaker comes from each team’s strength of schedule (SOS). New York owns the lowest SOS, therefore, they hold the fifth pick for now, followed by the Chargers and Titans.
Obviously, a lot can change over these final two games, but Tennessee could find itself in a dream scenario (getting a top-five pick) if everything falls into place, and the No. 2 overall pick is still within reach.
This is the perfect draft for the Titans to have a top-five pick, considering the best players in the class happen to be at positions of need.
You could argue that the four best non-quarterback prospects are two offensive tackles (Notre Dame’s Joe Alt, Penn State’s Olu Fashanu) and two wide receivers (Ohio State’s Marvin Harrison Jr., LSU’s Malik Nabers).

Those two areas happen to be the Titans’ main priorities heading into the offseason.
Securing a top-five pick would also ensure that the Titans have an early pick in each round, which would allow them to draft two top-40 prospects.
We’ll have to patiently wait and see how this all plays out, but landing a true blue-chip prospect would be a major boost toward speeding up the rebuild.
