Where Titans rank in ‘big plays’ through six games

The Tennessee Titans’ offense has been rather underwhelming all across the board.

Tennessee currently ranks 19th in rushing yards per game (110.3), 25th in points per game (17.3), 28th in yards per game (283.5) and 30th in passing yards per game (173.2).

One of the biggest reasons why the Titans’ offense is struggling is the fact that the unit is failing to produce big plays on a consistent basis.

According to Marcus Mosher of Raiders Wire, the Titans are entering Week 8 tied with the Seattle Seahawks for the 20th-most amount of big plays, which are classified as runs of 10-plus yards and passes of 20-plus yards.

The Titans have produced a combined total of 36 big plays after six games, with 18 apiece on the ground and through the air. They have totaled 24 fewer big plays than the league-leading Miami Dolphins’ whopping total of 60.

Tennessee has had a few opportunities to add a couple of extra to its total, but unfortunately, penalties and/or poor execution have held the offense back on several different occasions.

The Titans will look to start connecting on some of these big plays when they return to action on Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons, and it could be someone other than Ryan Tannehill trying to do it.
