Where Man City stand on incomings and outgoings in January transfer window

Manchester City are unlikely to change their plans for the January transfer window with another quiet month expected.

City dropped points at home for the second successive league game at the weekend, and saw Aymeric Laporte join Ruben Dias on the injured list. However, City prefer to do their first-team business in summer - Julian Alvarez was signed as one for the future 12 months ago - and have not seen anything from the Premier League so far to change their minds.

While Liverpool have already reinforced by signing Cody Gapko and Arsenal, Chelsea and United all plan to strengthen, a look at the bench against Everton even without two centre-backs showed the exceptional strength that Pep Guardiola possesses in his small squad. Manu Akanji was signed in the summer window after City reacted to the injury issues of two centre-backs, but there are no obvious holes that have been identified for this month; that means that any fans desperate to see a new left-back at the club will be disappointed for another window.

There is interest from City Football Group in Velez teenager Maximo Perrone, who has attracted the attention of a number of Premier League clubs. However, nothing has been agreed for the 19-year-old midfielder and if it was decided that City were moving for him it would be more likely to be seen as a long-term signing rather than expecting him to immediately challenge for a place in Guardiola's side.

As is usual, the bulk of attention in January will be centred around outgoing deals for young players; Morgan Rodgers could move to Blackpool on loan in one such move.
