Where is Matt Hancock on I'm A Celebrity? Tory MP nowhere to be seen as absence explained

Matt Hancock left TV fans confused - as he failed to appear on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here tonight.

The Tory MP has confirmed he has joined the ITV show, but fans were puzzled when he failed to make an appearance during this evening's launch show. The other campmates - including Boy George, Sue Cleaver, Owen Warner, Scarlette Douglas, Mike Tindall, Charlene White, Chris Moyles, Jill Scott, Babatúndé Aléshé and Olivia Attwood - began their journeys into the jungle during a very special launch show, with skydive and other challenges.

As they arrived in their glam outfits, the group of celebrities were told that some of them would be Jungle VIPs, as voted for the public, whilst those at home were also tasked with deciding who would have the toughest journey into camp and face the first trial.

The celebrities arrived to their various locations dressed in their glam outfits as they met with hosts Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly, before they were put up to their first tasks - and the real challenge of the show begins.

Fans of the show were confused as to where Mr Hancock was - but at the start of the show, the hosts confirmed Matt will be one of the two celebrities to head into the jungle at a later date. Every year on the programme, there is usually some late arrivals who soon make themselves comfortable in camp - but will Matt's jungle experience be comfortable?

Matt Hancock's spokesperson has confirmed he will be entering the jungle at some point.

A spokesperson for the Tory MP said of his rumoured £600,000 fee: "Matt will be making a donation to St Nicholas Hospice in Suffolk and causes supporting dyslexia off the back of his appearance. He will also declare the amount he receives from the show to Parliament to ensure complete transparency, as normal. This is an amazing opportunity to engage with the public and talk about issues he really cares about - including his dyslexia campaign.

"Matt is still working on constituency matters and will continue to do so up until he goes into the jungle. Producers have agreed that Matt can communicate with his team throughout the show if there's an urgent constituency matter."

Mr Hancock is set for a grilling, no doubt, whenever he enters the jungle, but bosses of the show have insisted they didn't put him in the camp to be "divisive". Executive producer Olly Nash said: "We’ve put in loads of politicians over the years.

"We also put in people who have had very very strong views about certain things and sometimes it plays out in camp and sometimes it doesn’t. It’s not a question of trying to divide camp, we have never been a deliberately divisive camp. It’s up to them to come into the camp and it’s up to them if they want to leave."

Hancock is not the first MP to appear on the show, joining the likes of Nadine Dorries and MEP Stanley Johnson.
