Steps closed ITV's Big Jubilee Street Party tonight (June4) and there was one question on everyone's lips - where was band member Lee Latchford-Evans? The fifth member of the band wasn't on stage with the '90s pop legends for a megamix of their biggest hits including Deeper Shade of Blue, Stomp and One For Sorrow.
Fans on Twitter were quick to ask the question where the singer was as fellow members, including Rhondda's Ian 'H' Watkins, carried on the megamix without him and his vocals were added to the songs via a backing track.
Lee has been on all the promotional social posts about their recently announced greats hits album, Steps Platinum Collection, which is out on August 19 and the announcement they were performing on tonight's show did not mention his absence. However, Lee was with the band performing yesterday, June 3, at the Mighty Hoopla Festival.
Louise Hector tweeted: "Where’s Lee? Is he a Republican?" "Wait is Lee not in #Steps anymore? Where is he? Love Steps, they’re still awesome!!" said another. And there were many more 'where's Lee' tweets, wondering where the singer was.
The performance was pre-recorded ahead of broadcast at the Manchester Arena with Jason Manford and Fleur East hosting and also saw performances from Mark Owen, Heather Small and Kaiser Chiefs.
WalesOnline have approached Steps' management for comment.
