Where is Holly Willoughby on ITV This Morning? Phillip Schofield explains as Rochelle Humes steps in all week

This Morning viewers were once again greeted by a change in hosts as they switched on the programme on Monday morning (May 9). Fans will probably have been expecting Holly Willoughby to be back on the show alongside Phillip Schofield as usual.

However, Holly, 41, was nowhere to be seen and Rochelle Humes was instead welcoming viewers to the first edition of the ITV daytime show of the week alongside Phillip, 60.

Rochelle, 33, had already confirmed that she'd be on the show after returning from a glamourous afternoon at the Bafta TV Awards on Sunday night (May 8) where she hit the red carpet with her husband Marvin Humes before presenting an award alongside radio star Clara Amfo.

She teased a look at her scripts for the day on her Instagram Story to her millions of followers before the show went live at 10am and Phillip explained Holly's absence.

He said: "Hiya, welcome to your Monday morning. Rochelle is here all week because Holly is presenting ITV's new show The Games which is live tonight and all week. We'll be talking about that later on. Tonight she's live at Crystal Palace...

"Not taking part," he clarified. "Hosting beautifully," Phil added as Rochelle said: "I wish she was taking part," with a laugh. Phillip then turned to Rochelle, who was brightening up the studio in an orange top and trouser combo: "Thanks for coming to play."

She replied: "No, thank you very much. I'm always pleased to be back." Phillip then pointed out that they can "be closer now" as the last time she was hosting the show alongside him there was still some social distancing measures in place.

"I know, that's what I said before. I can..." Rochelle said as she shimmed up and down, rubbing on Phillip's shoulder. "You can... as much as you like," her co-host said as she joked: "I mean, not that you asked for it but I was there."

Holly has swapped her usual co-host, Phillip, for Freddie Flintoff as she hosts The Games live on ITV. The pair posed for a selfie which Holly shared to her Instagram page on Sunday after they filmed the opening ceremony for the show which begins tonight (Monday) at 9pm.

Holly is busy with The Games (ITV)

The Games will see twelve celebrities step out of their comfort zones having been coached and traine before having to compete live to the nation in various Olympic-style events.

Among those hoping to be crowned top of the medals table is Coronation Street star Colson Smith, best known for playing the loveable Craig Tinker in the ITV soap, and Emmerdale's Rebecca Sarker, who stars as Manpreet Sharma. Joining them is former Corrie star Ryan Thomas, ex-Strictly Come Dancing pro and leading man Kevin Clifton, model and autism ambassador Christine McGuiness, and The Wanted's Max George.
