Where is Holly Willoughby and why is she not presenting ITV's This Morning?

TV presenter Holly Willoughby has revealed she will be absent from ITV's This Morning this week and many viewers may be wondering why. The 41-year-old host normally presents the daytime show alongside Phillip Schofield, but at the start of the show on Monday, May 9, he was joined by The Saturday's star Rochelle Humes.

Rochelle, 33, will be stepping in for Holly from Monday to Thursday this week and after the opening credits, Phillip explained the reason behind Holly's absence. "Welcome to your Monday morning! Rochelle is here all week because Holly is presenting ITV's new show The Games," the 60-year-old said: "That's live tonight and all week. We'll be talking about that a little bit later on.

"Nine o'clock tonight she's live from Crystal Palace in The Games, not taking part, actually hosting it beautifully". To which Rochelle added: "I wish she was taking part too". "Yeah! So thank you for coming to play," Phil said to his new co-host.

The new live ITV evening show will see twelve celebrity contestants take part in a series of sporting challenges. The week of live programmes, from Monday to Friday, May 9-13, will be hosted by Holly Willoughby and Freddie Flintoff, with Alex Scott also featuring as a trackside reporter and Chris Kamara commentating.

Just before This Morning went on air at 10am, Holly took to social media to announce her new role to her 7.2 million followers on Twitter and 7.7 million on Instagram, saying: "Morning… going to miss my @thismorning family this week however I’ve had a change of career and become a Cheer Leader… it was only a matter of time… @thegamestv #thegames".

This Morning also added on their Twitter: "The lovely Rochelle joins Phillip all week while Holly hosts @ITV's The Games! Find out more about #TheGames, later on in the show".

This Morning airs weekdays on ITV and ITV Hub from 10am and ITV's new show The Games starts May 9 from 9pm.
