Where is Anna Delvey now? Fake heiress' life after success of Netflix's Inventing Anna

Anna Sorokin managed to fool many of New York's elite by posing as wealth heiress Anna Delvey.

During her time duping, she stole thousands of dollars from people believing to be investing in her business, the Anna Delvey foundation, as well as not paying hotel bills, forking out for a private jet trip and walking away from settling up tabs on lavish holidays.

Sorokin, now 31, also managed to defraud banks before she was arrested in 2017 and the unbelievable story has inspired the Netflix series, Inventing Anna.

The Netflix show portrays journalist Vivian, based on reporter Jessica Pressler, and how she goes on a mission to find out more about Anna, played by Julia Garner, and the people who were defrauded by her.

She then goes on to break the story in New York Magazine - which is named Manhatten magazine in the series.

In 2019, German-born Anna was convicted on almost all counts of grand larceny and theft of services she was issued with and sentenced to four to 12 years in prison.

Many would expect her still to be holed up in jail but she isn't...so where is Anna now?

Anna was released from lockup in February 2021 due to good behaviour.

Following her release, Anna - who still goes by her false surname Delvey - relaunched her social media accounts and shared photos of herself living what appeared to be a lavish lifestyle.

In an interview with Insider after her prison stint ended, Anna claimed that she never meant to commit fraud.

“I have to deal with the consequences of my actions, yeah,” she told the outlet.

“But to just sit around and just think about everything I’ve done — it’s not going to have changed it. I don’t know. It would be a huge waste of my time.”

“I did what I did. And I was, I don’t know, 23, 24, 25. I’m just trying to fix things and move on,” she explained.

“I never really went, “Oh, let me go and defraud City National Bank, that will be the best thing to do ever.” Or, “Let me go take this random girl, Rachel, on vacation and make her pay.” Who thinks like this?”

Anna's time as a free woman did not last long as she was taken into custody once again in March 2021 awaiting deportation to Germany.

The German national was detained in New York City for breaking the terms of her visa.

Anna claims that her "overstay was unintentional" in an essay for Insider and also explained how she is appealing her case.

“My visa overstay was unintentional and largely out of my control. I served my prison sentence, but I’m appealing my criminal conviction to clear my name,” Anna wrote.
