Where Harry Kane finished in Ballon d'Or ranking as Tottenham star's result revealed

Tottenham star Harry Kane has been voted 21st in the 2022 Ballon d'Or rankings behind teammate Son Heung-min

Kane and teammate Son represented Spurs in the men's Ballon d'Or list of nominees alongside a number of Premier League stars including Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne and Liverpool's Mohamed Salah. This year’s shortlist has been put forward by France Football with the award now based on performances over the season, rather than a calendar year.

The 29-year-old enjoyed a strong 2021/22 campaign and has started the new season in brilliant form with 10 goals and a further two assists in all competitions. Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has been nominated for the Yashin Trophy, previously won by Paris Saint-Germain shot stopper Gianluigi Donnarumma.

The 66th Ballon d’Or award ceremony will see the awarding of seven prestigious trophies with both men’s and women’s players of the years to be recognised along with the Kopa Trophy (best performing player under the age of 21), the Yashin Trophy (best goalkeeper), Muller Award (best striker), the Socrates Award (best social initiatives within the game), along with the club of the year prize will all be confirmed.

Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema is the favourite to win the award after a sensational year with the Spanish giants as he lifted the La Liga title, UEFA Champions League and UEFA Super Cup. Below is the official Ballon d'Or 2022 rankings after voting had been completed:

16th - Virgil van Dijk

17th - Dusan Vlahovic, Casemiro, Luis Diaz

20th - Cristiano Ronaldo

21st - Harry Kane

22nd - Bernardo Silva, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Phil Foden

25th - Darwin Nunez, Christopher Nkunku, Joshua Kimmich, Antonio Rudiger, Mike Maignan, Joao Cancelo

The Spurs striker ranked ahead of England teammates Trent Alexander-Arnold and Phil Foden. Kane scored 27 goals and provided a further 10 assists as he fired Spurs into the top four, seeing the Lilywhites return to the UEFA Champions League this season.
