Where Georgia’s defense ranks nationally in key stats after Week 2

There’s been a lot of talk about Georgia’s offense this season. And for good reason — it ranks No. 2 in the nation in passing offense and has moved the ball with ease through two games this season.

After losing nine defensive starters from a record-setting 2021 Georgia defense, many wondered if the Bulldogs’ defense would take a step back this year. But defensively, Georgia picked up right where it left off last season. Maybe it’s come to be expected at this point in Kirby Smart’s career and that’s why this defensive unit has not been the talk of college football so far. But Georgia currently has the nation’s No. 1 ranked scoring defense, allowing just three points total this season (1.5 per game).
