On3 released a way-too-early top 25 rankings for college football. The Ohio State Buckeyes won the 2024 national championship over Notre Dame 34-23.
The Georgia Bulldogs ranked sixth in the top 25, behind the Texas Longhorns, Ohio State, Oregon Ducks, Penn State Nittany Lions, and Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Here’s what On3 said about Georgia’s ranking:
Ari: Our first look at quarterback Gunner Stockton was an encouraging view of Georgia’s history, even if it came in a loss to Notre Dame. Georgia recruits monster classes and are returning offensive starters like running back Nate Frazier, receiver Dillon Bell and tight end Oscar Delp. We know Georgia’s defense is going to be nasty, too.
While Georgia has a strong 2025 recruiting class (second in the country), the Bulldogs haven’t had a great transfer portal cycle. They rank 47th despite landing the No. 6 transfer in the cycle. Some key Georgia contributors, such as Carson Beck, Julian Humphrey and Damon Wilson II, left the team via the portal.
Georgia plays five opponents in On3’s top 25 rankings including the No. 1 ranked Texas Longhorns. The SEC in general has 10 teams on the ranking compared to the seven from the Big Ten, showing the SEC’s might as the best conference in the nation.
On3 predicted a few unranked teams make the top 25 next year, such as the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, Oklahoma Sooners, Auburn Tigers, and the Florida Gators, who rise all the way to No. 9 and are the biggest risers of the group. Notable ranked teams not on the list include Ole Miss, Boise State, Iowa State, and Missouri.
